I'm making a sump out of an old 10 gal. tank i have sitting around for my 30 gallon freshwater tank. I was wondering what type of pump to look for, in terms of gph. How much will be enough?

Also, I'm looking to upgrade to a 75 or so gallon tank shortly. Could I use that sump, with the same pump for that tank?

What equipment will be in your sump? Will you have a fuge in there as well? This'll help determine how much flow you should have.

Just a bioball filter, going out to the rest of the sump. I might put my heater in it if it will fit. I don't think there's rom for much else.

Since this is a FW tank, you probably just want a small pump for that. 200ish gph is probably more than sufficient.

just make sure you take a look at the max head height... the first few had a maximum head height of 3' i believe... you'll have to make sure you get one that is higher than that or it wont work
