Aquatrader's Odysea Lights

OK first even though the lights are cheap...they are ...well CHEAP! And like I should have remembered.."you get what you pay for".

I bought one 24" 2x65watt PC light from them and after 2 months the fixture just stopped working. The bulbs are fine and the wires seem ok too. I then bought another light from them....a 48" 2x65watt fixture and that one lasted one hour. I got it today and flipped the light on and off 3-4 times and now it dosen't work. Once again bulbs are fine and wiring looks ok too.

Yess Im $#@! mad and If I would have bought the better lights in the first place I would have been ahead of the situation.

STAY AWAY FROM ODYSEA LIGHT FIXTURES

Does anyone else have any input on these lights. I was getting ready to order the odysea 24" and they are out of stock so I was going to order the Jebo 48" 220 Watt one. Please any advise would be greatly appreciated before I order my lights because I would rather spend an extra 100 bucks or so now then to spend it later cause the first one didn't work.

I would spend the extra bucks....do a search on reefcentral.com there are others that have had problems.

The fixture it self is nice but the ballasts are junk. I know because I have had 2 fixtures in less that 3 months

Could you point my toward a good light that has similar wattage specs. I can't really spend too much money on a light right now because I have put almost $1200 into my tank in the last two months and quite frankly my wife is about to kill me for spending so much money on a hobby. I want to do this once instead of upgrading my lights in a year or so. MH lights are just out of my price range.

Oh by the way thankyou for steering me clear of the Odysea lights

Oh how bad are the jebo lights?

coralife is probably the highest quality you can get. The 48" aqualight is under $200

I had decent luck with a Jebo 48" 4x55 light fixure I got off Ebay. I used it about a year with no problems. The actinic bulbs are not real actinic though.

Sorry you had bad luck with those lights. I try to steer people away from Aquatraders for light fixutres simply because I looked into them and I found a lot of people having trouble with the lights and Aquatraders in general, Also because the Actinics are not real. Most people consider them throwaway lights. Great deal if they work and you swap the bulbs, but if they die, you are screwed. Money spent on better lights (Coralife, Current USA, All-Glass) at least gets you something that should be more reliable, and if the light has a problem in the first year, its fixed for free.

I believe the Jebo and Oddyseas are from the same manufacturer, though I was not able to confirm that.
