I live in [acronym:e0c0385de9="Calcium"]CA[/acronym:e0c0385de9] and I order from www.thatfishplace.com Since you live in CT, you might be able to drive there (I don't really know how long the drive is and my east coast geography sucks). Since you live relatively close, you could probably order stuff from them and it'd ship very fast. It takes about 5 days for stuff to arrive for me when I use standard ground.

Best places to buy

I personally think that the mom and pop stores are the best places to buy fish, tanks, and other supplies.

They seem to care about there customers and try harder to make them happy. The mom and pop stores tend to have a lot healthier fish all around, espeically if this is all they have in there store.

The petco's and petsmart's dont rely upon their fish department for a whole lot of sales. That's just what I have experienced.

i love drsfostersmith.com

i swear they put the stuff on the truck as soon as you get off the phone or computer with them. granted, i live in the state next door to them, but i always get my order in 2 days, even though the shipping guidelines say 4 to 6. their selection is amazing, and they have wonderful online live help, too, if you don't want to use the phone.

bigalsonline.com has excellent prices, but they don't ship as quickly, and i had problems with them once when an item was out of stock. they didn't notify me, and i had to chase them down to get it resolved.

I go to an assortment of [acronym:e43caa35e3="Local Fish Store"]lfs[/acronym:e43caa35e3] for fish and other live things.

All of my maintenence items, like filter media, medicine, etc. I get from drsfostersmith.com.

My [acronym:e43caa35e3="Power compact fluorescent"]pc[/acronym:e43caa35e3] light for my planted tank I got from AHsupply.com.

I always get my fish and plants at my [acronym:08c6eca2ab="Local Fish Store"]lfs[/acronym:08c6eca2ab]. That way I can check their condition myself and pick out the specimens I want. I find that my [acronym:08c6eca2ab="Local Fish Store"]lfs[/acronym:08c6eca2ab] has bigger fish in better condition and at a lower price than the local Petsmart. I also get frozen fish food and medicines from my [acronym:08c6eca2ab="Local Fish Store"]lfs[/acronym:08c6eca2ab].

I tend to buy most equipment and supplies from online stores, namely www.drsfostersmith.com and www.thatpetplace.com. There are some things that one place has that the other doesn't. Pricing is almost identical in most cases and they both give pretty good service.
