Please Read and help take action

PLEASE READ about the constant killing of marine life
Hello all. After looking at all of todays threads, as I do most everyday. I came across one that struck a nerve in me. It is the same old story of a LFS killing marine life. Well this isn't a LFS but a NFS, a national fish store, Petco. We've all witnessed the horrible living conditions that they keep marine animals in, so I decided to start a petition. Whether it will go anywhere, we'll see. The thread I read was this one that got me all p****off. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showt...hreadid=1372614
I don't see the difference between the actions of Petco and what Michael Vick did to those poor dogs. Unfortunately the general public don't consider marine animals as they would a dog or cat. Here's the written petition that I ask you read and sign and forward to all that care. I will forward this information to Petco directly, PETA, and all other authorities that pertain to the problem. I ask also ask that you take pictures and give the location of where these killings persist. Please continue to post your experiences and comments on this thread so that it will almost be as if was a "sticky" My e-mail is (removed). The link to the petition is below and again share it with those who care. Regards, Tim

I would also remove your email address on a public forum or you will be spammed to death.

I am going to move this thread to the Lounge, where more folks can see it.

Choose allies well. PETA isn't a friend of the hobbiest. I am all for ethical treatment of fish but you are putting the fox in the chicken house attempting to allign fish keepers and hobbiests with PETA. Individuals like you (with good intentions) are often an easy and helping aid for their agenda. I will have to pass on participating in this one.

I also refuse to have anything to do with PETA. It's nothing but a bunch of lunatics and those they've convinced to support them with ideological crap. I highly suggest you find an alternate method of getting your point across, as associating yourself with PETA will instantly kill the cause.

I also agree with the above PETA is not our friend. IMO they usually don't know what they are talking about. I also will not be siging this do to that but I commend you for trying to take action I would suggest just finding another way.

Petco...I cringe when I hear that. About 4 yrs ago, one opened around here. It was the typical Petco with sick fish, dead corals and horid looking tanks.
I went on their website and sent in a complaint. I did get a response from the Regional Manager and also got a call from the store manager.
What the store manager told me was they have no control over what they can do. The company has policies and they must follow them. They can't spend extra $ to upgrade lights or do any kind of preventative maintainence. My complaint got escalated down to the store manager level. To get any kind of positive response, the complaints have to go up the chain of command, and good luck with that.
