Suggestion for anyone ordering from Big Al's

I recently concluded my first experience with the above popular online vendor. As you guys know, I am trying to get my 150 set up. I ordered a bunch of stuff from Big Als and in the order were 2 300 watt heaters. The shipment arrived yesterday. The heaters are apparently on backorder. This would not have been such a big deal except that they never let me know. I now have to go through finding another vender, waiting for the heaters and it will put me back another week. I called them on their 800 number and let them know that I was a little upset. They told me they were so busy that the shear volume of business prohibits them from sending emails to let you know these things. I congratulated them on the success of their business and suggested that they spend some of their new found fortune on additional help. Also, I received an email the following day saying my order was being shipped, tracking number etc. They could have said at that time that the heaters were on backorder.

The moral of the story is such that the guy told me if you request that you be notified of anything not in stock, you will be. So....be sure to send a note to that effect if you are in dire need of something.

Oh yeah, one thing he said that I did not like was that they would have let me know if it were an expensive item such as a chiller.....I told him those heaters were just as important to me as a chiller would have been to someone else *shrug*

anyway....still staring at the empty tank.

Sorry to hear of your experence. I agree they should have notified you of the backorder.

Have you looked at the retailer www.thatpetplace.com ? I have found their prices to be very good and they usually ship the same day you place your order assuming you place your order before to late into the day.
