Has anyone noticed that on Christmas eve, 210 users were online at 6:43 pm.

Very impressive indeed considering it was on Christmas eve.

Sorry to bust everyones bubbles but the extra high guest count as best I can guess is the result of a new internet worm thats recently started to spead like wild fire. This worm exploits phpbb version 2.0.10 and lower. Note we are running 2.0.11 and that is known to be unaffected by this worm. The exploit also takes avantage of a secuirty flaw in php lower than 4.3.10. Not we are running a corrected version of php also.

An infected server has a script that is installed and searches google for sites that are running phpbb. When it fines a site it tries some malformed URL requests in an effort to take advantage of an unpatched forum. The worm then replicates itself and the nasty cycle continues and grows.

We take security very highly here and try to make sure this site is patched and is as safe as can be. In this accord we will be doing a MAJOR redo of the site very shortly. Some features may find the way of the bit bucket and some features will be enhanced.
