British Equivalent to Wal-Mart ??
As I was getting my sarnies outta my bag for a bite to eat earlier, I noticed that under the brand name on the bag ( ASDA ) that it said
" Part of the Wal-Mart Family " This jogged my memory and I also remembered that ASDA is American. In Britain in general, ASDA Supermarkets have a bit of a reputation for being a bit cheap and nasty, although some stuff is OK. Lets just hope to god they don't decide to sell fish. The one nr. me sells nearly everything else from TV's to groceries ! Just thought I'd share this .. Topic moved to current forum

Ummmm......slightly off topic here, but what's a sarnie?
Over here, Wal-Mart is a pretty good place to shop. Prices are good and so is the quality, but I have to agree on the live fish department. The one near me has live fish, and it isn't that they let the tanks get all foul, in fact their tanks usually look pretty good. It's just that these people have no idea what they are doing. Very discouraging when salespeople can't even give a basic idea of fishkeeping. No worse I suppose than Petsmart. That place really bothers me because they "won't sell dogs or cats because of the pet overpopulation, and they would rather try and get people to adopt animals from the shelter" which is a very, very good policy, but yet they'll sell oscars to kids with 10 gallon tanks.....??????? |

Wal-Mart really is just a massive reseller. They sell quaity products that are brand name. They also sell off-brand products and have some items that they sell under their own brand.
I invite all our UK pals to visit www.walmart.com and check the website out to get a general feel for the store. Over here we have Wal-Marts and then we have 'SUPER' Wal-Marts. The super wal-marts also have a grocery store and are usully 2x larger than a standard wal-mart.

I agree corvus,
I don't tend to go into too many shops now, I do it all on-line and tend to get better customer service than if I had to go into a store. Pity there are not very many, but all our grocery stores are on-line, so it makes up for it. |
