can u rain water

can u use rain water for your water changes? u know those watering can u see in gardens they fill up quite quickly ideal if u want to save on aquarium costs lol I had the idea of putting old not in use tanks outside to collect rain water and use. do u recommend it? maybe not for tropical tank but for the coldwater tank yeah.

I don't believe this is generally advised as rainwater is missing many minerals ie soft.

It's also not advisable as it may contain contaminants, bird poop, mice urine, just to name a couple.........
