My clown plecos is eating other fish... Why?

Clown plecos aren't really algae eaters. When you say it's eating other fish, do you mean fish that have died or fish that are still alive?

Still alive I watched him swim up grab one of my fancy guppies and then take it back to its cave I haven't seen the guppy since and I had five only 2 weeks before I watched him grab the last one. If alge isn't what he would prefer then what should I give him.

I've never heard of a clown pleco preying on fish before. Many algae wafers are rather poor quality foods, comprised mostly of wheat and soy. The high quality staple foods have more algae than many wafers, not to mention the protein the fish is obviously needing. Mine eats New Life Spectrum - it's got great sources of protein as well as plant matter and algaes.

I also have 2 banana plants and a fern the he likes to stay close to and the wafers I use are the same brand
