Do you have acrylic or glass, and why so?

I have been checking out tanks from 40G to 55G, and I don't know whether acrylic or glass is better. The PetSmart guy isn't exactly knowledgable on this

Just wondering what your opinions, experiences, etc. are with either one that would help my decision-making.

Thanks!

I went glass' cause I know I would scratch acrylic in no time and it would drive me crazy looking at the scratch... scratch... scratch...

Glass: Cheaper

Acrylic: Stronger, Clearer, Better thermal value, Easy to scratch.

Go Glass Its heavier but doesnt scratch as Easy.. If you buy Acrylic you are going to hate it everytime you see a scratch.. No matter how careful you are it will get scratched.. They do make scratch removal kits but do you really want to be removing scratches weekly for the rest of the time that you own the tank..

I have both, only because I got an acrylic hex tank many years ago (used) as a great deal.

I'd go with glass every time, due to the scratch factor.

I have 12 gal acrylic.
Pros: Stronger, lighter and no seams
Cons: Scratches easily and if you have a bow front - slighty distorts image close up.

My next tank will probably be glass

Wow, the verdict is overwhelmingly glass! And I thought since the acrylic ones were pricier, that they had some major disadvantages over the glass. Well I'm totally anal and the idea of scratches would drive me nuts.

Thanks everyone
