Hi all,

So this is a weird post and I feel a bit foolish posting it but...

My platy 'Patty' seems very healthy and is showing no signs of ill health but her stomach looks huge (and it seems to be getting bigger). I don't know whether I am just imagining it. She can't be pregnant and hasn't been over fed. I also make sure they get de-shelled peas now and again to help with digestion. No signs of worms/parasites, either.

Is this all in my mind? :s

Thanks,
Laura

It is good you are checking for constipation.

How are you sure she isn't pregnant?

Hi,

I only ever had female platys and she is the only remaining one in the tank. I've had her for about a year now with no males in sight.

They can store sperm but I doubt she did considering how long it has been. If you start seeing a gravid spot she is pregnant.

Update us if anything gets worse or if it goes away; keep up with water changes and the like. Best of luck!
