Fluval 205 Canister Filter??

I acquired a Fluval 205 canister filter with an aquarium set up I purchased, it also came with a Whisper Power Filter. However, this Fluval looks confusing!

What are the pro's and cons of the fluval over the whisper?

There are round white pellets inside the Fluval, what are they and where can I get some?

The white pellets are your bio filter media, and I just like canisters over HOBs because they are quieter, cheaper to run, last longer, you can make your own filter media, and they need cleaning less often.

the 205 is super simple... it has one side for the foam pads, and then the media trays... the ceramic rings are there for the bacteria... they make several types though... i have the ceramic bio-rings and the ceramic pre-filter rings in both my 305 and 405... petsmart has them i know, but you can order them from ebay for alot less... and contrary to the directions, dont change the media... ever... the sponges last forever, contrary to the directions
