Fresh bag of live sand or not?

So since I'm sort of cleaning my tank up and adding more to it I was wondering about live sand. I have a open bag that has been open for a few months now but I have always kept it wet by pouring some salt water into the bag. Is it fine if I use sand from the bag or should I go get a fresh bag.
