Nope it must be goldfish, bettas or neons will not work...

I'm guessing they're using goldies for a few reasons.
1. They don't need a water heater
2. Most people don't think they need filters
3. Most people believe they like fish bowls
4. They are super cheap, so after they kill hundreds in week, it would have only cost them a few dollars

Perhaps they are being true to the picture posted and using the biOrb (think that's what that is) so maybe they're not killing hundreds of fish in a week. Also because there are specific "fish therapy rooms" customers can request and not "fish in every room." Also, if you read the article, it says the favorite pet fish in the UK is the goldfish. But yes, they are cheap and easy to replace, etc.
