Guess That Species!!

Oh, sorry, I just took a guess at the generic name. I figured someone else would pursue it further and work out the species. Presumably it B. dicentrarchus or an undescribed species. If Gillie is happy with that, I'll post something.

No - it's not from a family I work on. It sometimes turns up in aquarium stores, and is usually identified to the incorrect family. It came up a few years back as a marine fish identification enquiry on Aquarium Advice. I had a lot of trouble convincing anyone of the identification!
 
Yes, good job dalto. It's a damselfish (Pomacentridae), but is usually misidentified as a Pseudanthias (Serranidae). The species is a plankton picker that schools with Pseudanthias species. The coloration is highly variable, and usually matches the species of Pseudanthias it's schooling with.
