Half Time show question. What do you think?

Here is some information on the Halftime shows.

My question to you all is........What have you thought of halftime shows in the past and commercials?

My OPINION is this, I have to turn the channel every time a commercial comes on and the halftime show last year well lets just say I am glad my kids were playing! I love sports and watching a ton of different ones but, all of them are going in a direction that I am disgusted with.. I hope they keep it clean this year.

What do you think and I want OPINIONS........Lets keep it appropriate please I do not want to get into trouble.

Halftime show information below:

The Super Bowl just got even bigger. Taking a quick break from their "A Bigger Bang" World Tour, the legendary Rolling Stones will perform in the Sprint Super Bowl XL Halftime Show on ABC at Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday, Feb. 5.

"We are thrilled to perform for millions of fans at one of the most exciting and highly anticipated sporting events of the year," said the Rolling Stones.

"We are excited to welcome one of the greatest rock n' roll bands in history to the Super Bowl," said Steve Bornstein, the NFL's executive vice president of media and president and CEO of NFL Network. "As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Super Bowl this season, it is fitting we work with The Rolling Stones whose music has thrilled audiences around the world for years."

"Sprint's sponsorship of the Super Bowl XL Halftime show highlights our commitment to fans of the NFL and the Rolling Stones," said Steve Gaffney, Sprint's director of sports marketing. "We're looking forward to providing fans the opportunity to participate in the halftime show like never before."

Emmy Award-winning Don Mischer Productions returns as the halftime show producer, following a successful halftime show last year in Jacksonville featuring Paul McCartney. This year's Super Bowl marks the third time Don Mischer, who serves as the show's executive producer and director, has worked with the NFL. Mischer also produced Super Bowl XXVII halftime show with Radio City Music Hall Productions in 1993 featuring Michael Jackson. Among the company's vast and celebrated productions are the opening and closing ceremonies for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, eight Emmy Award shows, the Kennedy Center Honors and the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

But before the big game even kicks off, a concert with significant inspiration will take place. Patti LaBelle will highlight the seventh-annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration along with several surprise guests and NFL stars. The concert will help kick off Super Bowl Weekend at the Masonic Temple on Friday, Feb. 3, at 7:45 p.m. ET.

I thought after the Janet Jackson costume malfunction ( ) that they had been very tame. Wasn't it Paul McCartny who played last year's show at a piano? The Rolling Stones won't be extreme either.

They used to be better. I'm not excited about them anymore, the commercials are much better.

I think they should just run all the commercials for haltime.

Does the US not have any decent rock bands? I find it odd that the promoters go out of country for entertainment.

We do its just I think they have a huge vote to whom will be the entertainment. They have a number of things lined up. Last two half time shows are USA pop artists.

I just hope they keep it clean...commercial wise.

The Rolling Stones are awesome! Mick Jagger usually puts on a great show. His energy is amazing.

I thought last year's show was kind of boring.

I heard they added Patty Labelle at the last minute cause Detroit was pitching a fit about the halftime show not including Motown. As far as the superbowl getting less "clean every year" I think that's to be expected. The whole Janet Jackson thing aside you have to realize football is an aggressive sport that brings to mind men, beer, and cheerleaders. Expecting it to be "wholesome" is sort of odd.

In Philadelphia they now have night court to handle the amount of fans arrested at Eagles games.

One of the seahawk players recently got arrested for a domestic violence dispute at a bar. It would be cool if the athletes and adult fans were role models for our youth but they aren't and while the sport is All American it isn't "wholesome."

I'm sure there will be some overly blatent too sexy commercials because the target audience for Superbowl is MEN and sadly our men have become pornographic fiends!

Yeah understood and I somewhat agree. I want to keep this clean...I feel as though in this country the best thing is our freedom of speech. I do not like the fact the world is getting more and more immuned to the fact that the more violence, sexuality, vulgarity is to be "expected". But, I just turn the channel not to watch those parts of the game. "wholesome" being odd is just what is wrong with a ton of things...........Opinions are great. We all do not have to agree and I am glad I can speak my mind.[quote]

Of course you can speak your mind! There is freedom of speech in America and that freedom that allows us to voice our opinions is the same freedom that allows paris hilton to crawl all over a soaked up bentley in a bathing suit eating a ridiculously huge hamburger during a commercial.

And for what it's worth I don't think we disagree really. I'd like TV to be less violent and definitely a heck of alot less degrading to women but it is what it is. I cringe when I think of all the imagery my kids are exposed to. I can't even count the number of times I have had to turn the tv off cause the content was inappropriate for the kids and the sad thing is many times it's the cartoon channel that has to be turned off. So if they can't even make the kids channels wholesome that leaves little hope for something like the superbowl.
