Help w/Digital picture resizing for this site

When I'm editing pics with the plan on updating my gallery or pics for specific threads what size should they be? It's pretty clear for the Gallery instructions that they need to be "X" number of megapixels, but what size is a good size to use to get to that? The ___ x ____ thingy/prompt I get when re-sizing - what to choose?

Is it that easy, or do I have to sit on the phone w/Jchillin again tonight????

I'm such a computer dummy!

If you want them smaller then 64240 is a good size. For larger either 800x600 or 1024x768. Using jpg compression of about 60%-75% you should easily get them under 100kb or smaller for each photo.

When resizing for the computer I always put in 600 for the first number and then the computer automates the second number for me.

Look at this post. http://www.aquariumadvice.com/viewtopic.php?t=69561

This really makes image resizing easy. Most images at 800x600 will fit within our size limits. Infact most 1024X768 will fit within those limits aswell unless they have a substatnal amount of color going on or they are very high DPI.
