How to carpet your tank?

I have a gravel substrate and all of the plants are real. They've only been in there a few weeks now, but will they spread on their own?

Looks like you've got a good start, the plants just need some time to grow out. I see that the Java fern on the left has its rhizome burried; you should pull the rhizome (the horizontal piece that attaches the leaves together) out of the gravel, otherwise it will slowly die. If you aren't adding fertilizer you can add a basic one like Leaf Zone which is good enough for low light low-tech (no added CO2) set ups. You can also try Excel to help the plants with CO2.
