Hows the water
Have you ever herd sombody proclaim their cities water is good? Vote and describe yours.
When I lived at home I had well water, you could feel the copper and other metals going down your throat. I thought it was good till i tried botteled stuff. Water at home, gets a Gag vote from me. Water at school, just smells bad, so it gets a Squimish vote. This should be unfooled around with tap water |

While city water often has a more chemical taste its often cleaner thatn well water when it comes to parasites, bactera and other single celled or very small orginizums.

My water has arsenic and other heavy metals, as well as the occasional nitrate spike and wild pH swings. I still drink it, but my fish get 100% RO. Oh, and it comes out of the tap really cold!

Water here in the desert has a very high pH. It comes out around 7.8 straight from the tap. Other then that it is pretty good..... never any nitrates, although it is rather hard (keeping chiclids here is a piece of cake). In the summer time, I have to use ice cubes to cool it off during PWC's....it comes out around 90+ degrees from the faucet. I have to wait until the ice melts before I dose it with dechlor.....very annoying.

We have well water with a softener and purifier hooked up to it. It tastes as good as any bottled water to me. The water at work smells and tastes like old pipes or something. I work close to DC in a very old building so I'm pretty sure it is as crappy as it can get. They have those water cooler things in all of the kitchens. At school it's okay but when I was taking micro we tested the mouth piece things and the water coming out for germs and gross is all I can say. We found that you have to let in run for about 30 seconds to clear most of it. Although you can't clear it all. I can tell you that we found the toilet seats and floors to be cleaner.

Is it just me or is anyone else seeing this....
Most replies have given some test results for their tap water..... where else but here would you get an average user knowing the parameters of their tap water? This very well could be a "you might be a fish geek if..." kind of thing. tracy *just makin an observation

I grew up on well water and loved it. During college I lived in 4 different towns and the taste just got worse and worse with each move. The last house that we lived in, the water tasted like mud. We drank bottled water only. When we moved to our current place, it tastes like sulfer. At my office it tastes like metal. We are still bottled water drinkers. And to prove my fishiness, our pH is right at 8.2 and hard as a rock. It's full of lime and is causing buildup on one of my tanks.
