I got a job!!!
I'm so excited! Starting in January I'm going to be working 3 days a week at a company that does marine and freshwater environmental modeling (the computer kind, not the runway kind!). They do a lot of work modeling the fate and effects of oil drilling and spills, and also the effects of other activities on the marine environment. So it should be a nice connection between science and environmental management. The other 2 days a week I'll be working on finishing my thesis, which hopefully will happen in the next year or two. This will give me a little more money (I'm tired of the starving grad student routine) and should be a new exciting thing which will get me motivated to work on my thesis too. It's a small company but they have offices in Brazil, France and Australia so hopefully I'll get to do some traveling eventually.
And you all know what more money means......more fishtank stuff! (oh and maybe a house sometime soon too....details, details) |

Congrats! It is always nice to obtain gainful employment in the field you enjoy. The possibility of travel as a part of the job is even better. I hear there is a very decent sized Aquarium in Australia.
