You wouldn't be distributing the weight correctly, as you wouldn't have the corners of the tank lined up with the legs of the stand, or even close. Depending on the design of the stand, you could place board of the correct size on top that would distribute the weight, but I'd still be a little wary about a 7" shortfall. How long is the tank itself? If you give some info on the design and construction of the stand, it might help asses it's use.

yes tank will more likely to break as it has no support underneath it as gessing you tank is 2ft high and deep thats 72kg or 159lb of unsupported weight

most people dont relise how much water weighs and if i guessed right for you tank size you got an adult sitting on the edge of you tank with no support so always think twiece with stands for tanks

well i have a stand and an old tank but i wasnt planning on putting the tank on the stand i just wanted to know what would happen if i did.

thats 54kg or 119lb un supported i may take a chance my self making sure only 3.5in hang over either side but thats a big may but i most probberly wont
