I love it when they say they have records of all your calls, yet when you have a chronic problem, the tech starts with "lets check your settings"...
Idiot, we checked my settings 30 minutes ago, lets move onto something a little more productive please.

I agree, Hara my problem with that is the people that don't take notes so if a call comes through and i don't see your setting were checked I'll check the settings,

if they are all good then i'll move on to the next step,
I like trouble shooting.

but another thing to remember is not everyone knows that there are numurus things in your system that stops a connection, data flow etc.

pinpointing a problem is very important means less time for you and the tech if you think about it,

another thing i do if there is a long wait and there is troubleshooting to be done, i'll call back instead of the person call back and wait, i think its unfair to wait long times when you already tried something,

Thaiboxer:
most people will follow the scripts but the way i see it if you know what your talking about I'm with ya,
if you tell me everything on your system/Network is fine cool,

Rebooting does fix problems, mostly if you never shut your Network down, but i always use rebooting to discuss an issue,

lots of times when there is a call come in like that they have to send an escalation to the network enginers so they can figure out what is down if anything,
usually they like to see more than one escalation sent in before they do anything lol.

We were to the point that I thought I was going to have to exchange christmas cards with the guys from tech support LEVEL #3, at starband. Luckily, after they upgraded THEIR software about 3 times, all the bugs were worked out. Then, we
found out we were in the "!@#$% you " cluster in the satellite. As soon as they moved us, the problems stopped, yet all along, they were not going to admit that their was a problem. This when I pay 75.oo per month for satellite internet service.

I realize that it was new technology when we started, but the best thing for them to have done was to admit that they were having to work out bugs at our expense.

Well you can always look at the fact that nothing man made is 100% secure

So many people trust thier computer more than they trust themselves,
I don't understand?

Is it two way satellite you have or just for downloading?

Just dial up, cable, and dsl.

they would have to use some kinda proxy i guess but not really sure
I really dislike proxy servers.
