Internet Tech Support

What would you say if you called internet tech support and they said the server was down waiting to get through?

Wait for an hour or so in the queue to speak with a tech?

Or get the message the server is down and hang up?

I'm one of those Techs you talk to when your internet is not running.

I don't understand why most people would choose option one there is
"Nowhere to right down Click"????

I can see if you just got your internet account and want to manually configure you setting on you pc or Mac or whatever.
but hopefully not to troubleshoot lol.

I'd put you on speakerphone and play a game while I waited... The recording can be good IF you give an ETA... If not, I'm waiting to find out when it's gonna be back up =)

If I was the tech's boss I would suggest that we send and e-mail to everyone telling them the server was down. Then I would go on break.

hehe

What I hate is in the message after I choose "Technical support because my connection is down" the lady says "Our website is LOADED with helpful information..."

Lady, when my connection hasn't worked for three days, the LAST thing I want to hear you say is how I can get help from your website.

*tech help guy checking in*

LOL @ hisc1ay, good point there. Come to think of it, I've had that myself a few times.

When mine goes down (rarely) I usually go do something else after troubleshooting my own PC. I have my own network with a quality setup, so it's usually very easy to determine exactly where the break is. If it's beyond my router, I don't bother calling unless it's greater than 3 hours. If that's the case, I call late at night when everyone else has given up

When my DSL at the house goes out (rare occasion) I usually wait 30 min or so before I call. WHen I call they are good about putting recordings on the line saying something like "If your a DSL customer in XXX town we are currently experencing difficulties and your service will be up shortly"

Now we use the same ISP for work and when our T-1's go down we have a priority phone number that gets us in touch with their NOC.

I have two old dial up accounts kept on as 'pay as you go' ... if the DSL fails then I have a backup dial up connection to go check their website for 'system status'. Which invariably says it's fine when it's not!
