Is anyone here also excited for this year's Tour de France?

July 3! Can't wait. I've seen a few episodes of The Lance Chronicles on the OLN channel, and it never ceases to amaze me what kind of training and endurance these guys go through. Think Lance can pull off victory number 5?

Lance is a Texan French dude! On The Lance Chronicles, he's training now in Europe, and he speaks French so well, it's very cool to hear him do it. The other day he was in his house there, and he was showing all his Tour de France trophies for the various stages, overall, etc.

Heh..semi-thrilled...
i am not into roadies.
Somethin about men that wear spandex hotpants and shave their legs... I jus don't know. A roadie can kick my butt by 5 minutes in a Xcountry and I will still point and laugh during the post party.

What's a Tour de France?? Oh yeah...a bunch of guys riding bicycles up and down a bunch of hills. Can't they afford cars?? They should get jobs, the shiftless bums!

Lance has already won 5 in a row, beginning with his win in 1999. He is tied with Miguel Indurain of Spain for that record. Three other riders have won 5 non-consecutive times (Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, and Bernard Hinault).

If Lance wins this year, he will have the record for most wins AND MOST CONSECUTIVE WINS in the history of the race.

Unfortunately he may have sacrificed some personal values in order to become a great racer.[/u]

I think Lance has a pretty good shot at it. His mental toughness is nothing short of amazing.

But speaking of bicyclists, why is it that almost every adult I see riding on the road has to wear all the special gear? I mean, your average 35 year old dude who rides on weekends is decked out like a member of the U.S. Postal team? I think the fancy duds cost almost as much as the bike these days!
