Today turned out to be a typical Seattle day! It's overcast with mild temperatures...
A and B) are both fantastic examples of why everyone believes that it rains SO much in Seattle! I'll let you in on a little secret Seattle only gets an average annual rainfall of 36-38 inches, and this ranks 44th among US major cities! We just want you to think that...so you don't move here and over crowd us jk...we just have a lot of clouds, and the rainfall we do get is light, but it likes to stay around for a while For example, in the winter of 2008/2009 Seattle had a rainy day streak of 24 days...our record however is 33 set back in...then there is this...in the winter of 1998/1999, we had rain 90 out of 120 days...just to put that in perspective, that is rain 2 of every 3 days!! With that said...there is a reason we are called the "Emerald City"

And these are three examples of why we are called the "Emerald City"...because of the weather, flora is almost always in bloom! Our large evergreen trees (aka- pines) are always healthy and green...these three examples, however are the state flower of Washington! These are three strains of rhododendron! A very large "bush" the white strain is about 15-20 feet high...I hear that the reason "rhodies" grow so well here, is because of the cool, moist, salty air. This would make perfect sense...seeing as I see these plants flourishing in many of the Puget Sound lining cities and neighborhoods

Just thought is share that...this is good therapy
