I have been using RedHat since 6.0. I never bought a book. For me hands on learning has always been better. Google is my 'book' that has helped me through anything I have ever needed. I have RedHat 9.0 on all my servers and even my desktop.
If you decide to purchase a book, I would recommend purchasing RedHat. It comes with a nice book and you are contributing to development. I have seen many books at the book store, but most seem to miss the points. Most focus on basic CLI which is normally the easiest to learn. Complicated commands and editied config files is what I never see.

RedHat Linux
Hi... I tend to agree with astride that Google is your best bet for info. I went to Amazon and the books listed there for RedHat were for older versions! But look for a book called RedHat Unleashed; it is pretty good. Go to Google and type in RedHat Unleashed and you can click on a site that shows you the table of contents for the book. See if that is what you want.
We run Gentoo on an IBM server. My husband joined a Gentoo forum; maybe try to look for a RedHat forum and that could help you too. Good luck! |
