Making drinkable water after a terrorist attack.

I would like to share a email I received from the person I bought my RO/DI unit from. I had asked him to give me any info he could about the ability of my RO/DI unit to make drinking water in the event of a terrorist attack that may contaminate our drinking water:

Christopher ,
The sediment filter will remove dirt and not much else the carbon filters remove chemicals . You have two of them and a very slow rate of flow so chemicals should not be a problem. The membrane is way smaller than any virus so disease or infection is eliminated by ( 99.9 % ) or better . The only reason these systems are not rated ( 100 ) is because nothing is perfect . As far as poisons are concerned most are based on heavy metals , salts which are removed by the membrane . Solids , metals or salts that the membrane misses are mopped by the D.I. . Pure water or at least as close as you can get for human and mechanical devices .
The only thing you could consider adding to your equipment may be an Ultra Violet and a TDS meter. The Ultra Violet scrambles the DNA of infectious critters and TDS meter will tell you how well your system is working .

Good thoughts and If I could say don't worry I would .

Wheres Britta when you need it lol,

Good info on filteration,
One question If there is an attack on the US does the US Gov not supply you with bottled water?
here in Canada if the is an ecoli Breakout there are truckloads of water handed out to anyone who wants it free of charge mind you it doesn't happen very often, but you would think thats what the Goverment is there for.

It is very unfortunate that there are people out there (terrorists) that have nothing better to do than mess with others lives and harm thier own in the process.
Chris.
