Meet the newest addition... errr.... additions!!!!!
Well, as a few know, I lost my beloved Jack Russell Terrier, "Jack" a little over a week ago.
I have always had pets, and the loss of Jack left us petless-well, except the fish, but you get the idea. I did not want to wait for another dog. I started searching and came across Bailey... a very sweet mannered little lady, I fell in love with her. Bailey also had a buddy named Fender... Their owners were going to keep Fender, but decided that they didnt want to split the two up. My husband is such a sucker.... We drove all over VA on Saturday looking just to make sure that Fender & Bailey were the right ones for us... They were. So Saturday night we brought home our new babies!!! What a handful! TWO Jack Russells are something else! Fender is a 9 month old male and just a big dope... Bailey is a 5 month old female, and shes quite the firecracker!!! She laid into a boarder collie yesterday that was a hundred times bigger then her. So we have a little dog aggression that we have to work on, but we will take care of that. Bailey is a perfect Fly Ball prospect! She is highly prey driven, eager to please, and with some training, I think she would be great. I just had to share my two newest additions, Im very happy... |

I know what you mean Melody! When I lost my Akita in May 2003, I knew that I couldn't ever be without a dog again. I actually got Hagrid the day after she died; I was just looking at puppies and he chose me so I had to get him. He really helped me make it through the intense grief- you know, like when I had to feed him, play with him, walk him, etc.; he really helped me to act more normally rather than just sitting around grieving.
Congrats on your new additions, they are really cute!

severum mama,
I know exactly what you mean... I had a few friends that didnt think I should get a dog so soon. A few people tried to talk me out of it. I KNEW what I needed...something to help keep me focused on something OTHER then my loss. I buried Jack right next to my patio, and made a flower bed all around him. Planted my favorite roses on either side of him, and came inside, got online and started searching for breeders. Im so happy I didnt wait. Fender (the male) is so much like Jack, he will get in your lap, roll over so you can rub his belly, then fall asleep... and he snores!!! its so funny... Neither have papers, but I sure wish he did... he fits the standard so well... he has perfect lines... and some jowls not to be messed with... he could inflect some damage if he wanted to... Jack Russells have the same locking mechanism in their jaws that pit bulls do... they are hunting dogs, and have to latch on... when he latches on to a rope, good luck to anyone that needs the rope back... Im so happy, but I still miss my little man Jack, its going to take alot to fill his shoes... But we will get there! |
