Mischief - Aquarium Advice

My oldest mouse, Mischief died today.

Mischief is the black mouse in my avatar. She was 2 yrs, 7 mos old to the day - an extraordinarily long life for an animal that rarely lives past 18 months. I like to think that a nutritious, varied diet, lots of attention from me, and lots of social stimulation from her 9 cagemates kept her going for so long. Aside from the normal wear and tear of aging, she was in good health - I saw her busily shredding some egg carton this morning. She made herself a comfy nest, and that's where I found her.

It's sad, but I still have 8 girls and two boys aged 7 months and their mom (probably 12 months).

My condolences Andy...I know how much she meant to you. She obviously recieved the best of care from you and, as you say, outlived the normal lifespan.

I was hoping she would keep chugging along to age 3. The oldest mouse on record lived to be four years old at the University of Michigan Medical School.

I'm sure Mischief did indeed benefit from your excellent care and the company of your other mice. She had the best mouse life with you!

, but with your great care, I"m sure one of your little guys will live beyond the 4 year mark.

I'll echo Jchillin and say that she obviously received the best of care to have lived as long as she did.
