Hi, I just thought that since fishkeeping isn't really a cheap hobby, what are some of the ways that you have saved/earned money with fishkeeping? Selling plants, fish?

Sold $300 in mystery snails last year. $1 a snail. It was a lot of work packing up those little beauties and mailing them off.

I sold plants for a little extra money.
The biggest money in aquaria is coral fragging. It is expensive to start into and takes a long time to build up stock but for someone thats active at fragging they can be sold for quite a bit.

It's frustrating being in Singapore because it's such a small country and you can't mail fish out of the country. Living in US so good, can buy and sell.fish online.. ?

A saver for me would be re-using filter media / filter cartridges. Unless really falling apart, I just keep cleaning and re-using. On some I've replaced the filter wool with long-life, very fine filter sponge.
