My god. What makes it so expensive. That fish, which after purchased, could die in a week is more expensive than a luxury home with a exotic car in the garage.

Idk. Perhaps it came from very selective breeding lines and displayed absolutely perfect characteristics. Money has different value to some people. When I had koi they were the 5-10$ variety at the most.

Yeah I've seen designer koi go for well over a couple grand around here.
