Great pets, I want a dog sooo bad but am afraid of not being able to care for it as well as I should.
I don't get how people with 9-5s can own a puppy? A crate is the answer I suppose, but thats sooooo long.

My mom works a 9-5. (Technically a 7-4 w/ an hour lunch), my lil sis is in Jr. high all day, and I don't even live at home for the majority of the year anymore. We put Cocoa outside during the day. We feel bad about it in the summer since it gets upwards of 115 F here, but by then the lil sis is home more and can let Cocoa in more often.
You just have to spend a lot of time with them when you get home. Thats one of the first things I do when I get home is to play with Cocoa. She loves playing tug and catch, and she loves it when I encourage her dog biscuit addiction, and the lil sis spends a lot of time teaching her tricks. Right now Cocoa knows come, sit, paw, other paw, lie down, up. She knows crawl and roll over, but usually refuses to do it. She also runs to the door if we ask her who's at the door. She also knows the meaning of the words walk, leash, car, bye-bye, outside, and bug.
