You used "XP" and "flawlessly" in the same sentence.

I'm not sure I understand--someone will willingly spend hundreds more on a mac that will run xp, just so they can say they have a mac?

Now it's just a prettier version of a pc, and even "prettier" is debatable.
Looks are completely subjective, and I do think that macs look far superior to pc's, still, i wouldn't call either of them pretty, they're machines.

As for spending hundreds extra to say "I gotta mac!" ... I agree, but to spend extra on a computer that works, it becomes worth it to me. I record music and I have yet to find a pc that I can spend more time recording with, than trouble shooting. I got no problems with people bad mouthing macs, to each their own. If windows based pc's work for them, well...great.

For me though, spending a little extra on a machine that's components are made to work together is worth it, and the proof is in the puddin'!! I have yet to meet someone that goes from a OSX mac, back to a windows based PC.

Also, there are several macs that aren't more than a new decent pc setup. Mac mini, and iMac's are quite affordable.
