Does anyone know where I can get some nice sized rock for a good price?
My lfs has some rock about the size of your fist for $8 a piece.
I would like to have asome bigger.
Just thought that was a bit steep or is that the norm.
This is for fw by the way.
Thanks.

I was all about to recommend you liverocks.com but then I see its for FW.

Do you have a stream or crick near ya? Cant ya just go huntin for some rocks there? I used some rocks from a river on a 90 gal fresh tank with no problem.

These will go into the new 180 Oscar tank.
Now I just need to take a trip to the river.
Thanks for the help fishfreek.

Check out your local Yard landscaping companies. We have one here in town that even stocks gravel for the bottom of tanks.

your local gravel company is the way to go - I bought about 60 pounds of black flagstone for my tank for about $26. I busted it up and made an awesome landscape with 3 arches and 2 caves.

I like collecting rocks or driftwood myself. Can be hard work, but worth it IMO. Considering I like being outdoors in the first place, collecting comes natural to me.

Landscaping material yards will be a good place to try, or even some gem/mineral shops. I got all the rock in my tank from a rock shop around here and paid more than I would at a landscape yard, but most landscape yards don't have petrified wood.
