Not really an aquarium question...

I need an aquarium pump for a watercooling system on a computer. I need for it to be inline, either 120 Volts AC or 12 Volts DC and have to have it to connect to 1/2 Inch O/D line. I need the most powerful, compact and quiet pump money can buy. (For about $120.) Remember, I'm going to put it inside of a computer, so size is paramount. Also paramount is it's reliability as it's going to be protecting $8,000 dollars of equipment. And, obviously, I can't have it spill one drop of water. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry if I sound conceded or if I irritate you, but you guys are the professionals in this matter and I would really like help.

Why not have an external reservour? You would be able to get more water volume, which would equal better cooling.

I don't know much about pumps, but I would assume you would be able to find a superior product at a specialty computer store.

I can't remember the name of the product but there is a liquid on the market specifically designed for PC cooling, I saw it at Comdex. As a display the company had an entire PC submerged in the liquid and had it running. If you are trying to protect 8,000 dollars worth of PC you might think about spending more than 120 dollars.

I agree that cost will need to increase. As far as pc submerged in liquid, that sounds awesome, but expensive. I do know that they make other fluids for more efficent cooling.

Ehiem pump are really popular for using in Watercooling PCs.

Specially when coupled with a Chevette heatercore and a 120mm fan or two.

I hope you find your answer here but if not a quick search on Google for Pc cooling pump may yield more computer specific products, example

http://www.swiftnets.com/products/mcp300.asp

If you have already tried that…

For only $500 you would be better suited by buying a VapoChill computer tower/chassis that has an integrated compressor, evaporator and condenser. I have one and have successfully overclocked my Intel P4 3.2GHz to a whopping 4 GHz.

For a simple water pump I like the Maxijet line. Do you know how many GPH you need to flow thru the water cooling blocks to keep your overclocked rig from frying itself?

how much water you need to push is just as important as having a relyable pump.

Wow! what do you own, BLUE?

I would say that really the best bet is to hit some of the PC related sites for more computer specific needs.. The pumps used in aquaria are somewhat the same, however at the same time, there are ones that will be better suited for the need...

Tom's Hardware is a good site to get helpful info on cooling options..
