I'm wondering, how common is it to have females in the "male guppy" tank at the fish store? Yesterday I went to look at fish and and identified 4 pregnant guppies in the male tank.

Yes where I am there is 3-4 fish stores. 2 being pets at home and one being Maidenhead aquatics and the other a privitly owned. In the pets at home tanks they say that the Females have jumped over into the male tank every time I point it out. Maidenhead are really good and where I go they usually have the tanks separated by 2-3 tanks of different breeds of fish.

Females might get mixed in if the breeder assumed it was a male and turned out to be a late blooming female.

human sorting is not always perfect so you have a 15% window for error , atleast
just think about the poor jerk that has to sit there sorting through thousands of tiny fish all day long !!!! what a job LMAO

That wouldn't bother me. Spending my whole day with fish. That's my dream.
