So I bought a red claw crab from pet smart. I figured it had been in a freshwater tank so when I set up the tank I only added a small amount of salt. A few weeks later I brought up the recommended salt concentration for the crabs. After a day the crab became disoriented and died shortly after. I thought they would thrive in brackish water. What can I do differently??

According to this site, these crabs need a salinity of about 1.005, access to land, and water that is heated, filtered, and regularly changed. A palladium is recommended. More info in the link.

Yes I have all that I just didn't expect the crab to die by raising salinity. The meter says it's at 1.008. Thanks for your response[emoji3]
