Yep. Just like buying a puppy from a puppy mill, just to save it.

Sorry for the rant
Hiya, i'm UK too. I think the best course of action is to call rspca and let them know. They do everything they can for animals and they'd be able to tell you what you can do next.

There's a big name pet shop near us that keeps fish in less than ideal conditions.

I have removed the name of a store from posts above. Please refrain from store bashing. Thanks!

This is the reason why it's important to support your trusted LFS by giving them your business. Thankfully we have online stores we can go to, but sometimes you just want to walk out with a bag in hand. If we don't support our good local guys, then it's the bad ones we stuck with. IDK why, maybe it's just me, but why is it the bad LFS's somehow manage to stay in business year after year?

It's sad, but probably because people dont do proper research and think when a fish dies it must just be because they don't have a long life span. When fish die they just end up replacing, probably going back to the same place they bought them from because they don't know any better.

I totally agree.

I would indeed report that shop!

Hope this helps you to find a better LFS or give this one a poor review! My closest LFS is on the poor side. Not about dead fish in the tanks but it's dark and dingy.

That lfs around me seem to be ok. Hardly ever see a dead fish but cramped conditions, Yes.
