This stinks. Very disappointing, I'm sure their plight isn't helped by how Sharks are generally perceived.

I've seen videos of it and on shark week. Asian countries LOVE shark fin soup and will pay like literally no joke like 50 to a hundred bucks for a bowl of SOUP!! can you believe that? So naturally its big business. They haul in sharks with longlines and the literally just cut the fins off and throw them back in finless and helpless. they dont even use the rest of the fish. It truly is one of the more disgusting things in widespread practice in the fishing industry.

Humans are curious creatures indeed. In JAWS, as a kid, I pulled for the shark.
