Snow is falling

This morning it was raining so hard that my parents lake was overflowing the levy. It started the day before yesterday. Around 11 it turned into hard pelting sleet. At 12 it turned into a mixture of sleet and snow. At 12:30 it was all snow. At 1:25 we have 1 1/4" of snow already on the ground.

Don't you just love the weather pattern of the midwest.

Feel free to shoo it on over the lake, Fishy! I love this time of year, and can't get enough of the snow. Too bad I'm not in NY...

Ya, we are getting it here in O'fallon Illinois, we got about 4-6 inches of snow after about 2-3 hours of sleet. I remember growning up in Vandalia and Salem Illinois back in the 70's, we had at least 1 if not 2 big snow falls each year and it got cold enough usually to walk on the ponds and streams. Now adays you don't get the 4-6 ft. snow drifts and the fun of playing out in the snow.

Wolf- We are in Red Bud, not too far from you. The roads around here are pretty bad. Not to mention the wind chill is VERY cold.

OMG, yes!

Last night as it was gearing up over here in StL, the wind was whipping around outside and my power actually went off for a second...2 times I then had to picture myself setting up the "silent" air pump by flashlight if it decided to go out again.

I need to move out West.

I guess I never paid much attention to where everybody is from on here, Lots of neighbors.

I'm right on the southern tip of Lake Michigan, literally. It has been snowing and really blowing out of the north all day. Really can't complain though, it has been a very warm winter for the most part.

Not too much farther north than us.

We go up to Armstrong ON. each june for a fly in fishing trip. They were telling me a couple years ago that they had a total of 13 ft of snow that winter!

If we had that much snow, you would not see me until spring.

I guess we have about 4-5 inches on the ground here. Weatherman says about an inch of ice overnight, then more snow as it moves on out to sea tommorow evening. I think in the end, we are supposed to get around 6 inches of snow and 3/4 to an inch of ice. Not too bad compared to some areas in the northeast that will get hammered.

That's okay, I don't have to work tommorow, so let it come!

I broke out the sled tonight and had a great time.
