Soo angry!

So I joined another forum to be the "unnamed" forum. I wasn't crazy about it because it seemed so unorganized compared to aquarium advice. I posted here a couple days ago regarding stocking ideas (mainly for top dwelling fish) and I got good advice. Also I posted the same topic there also just as an experiment . I know I am picky in regards to what fish I want but who isn't? Some anonymous schmoe couldn't get off the idea that I need more oto's (I currently have 4). This after I simply stated that 4 is enough for now and cause I want them to have enough to eat, they don't really school together, and they are all fat and happy. This person proceeded to state there is a difference between shoaling and schooling and most aquarists don't know the difference. Also that they live by the 100's in the wild. I basically told this person that I know the difference and please don't be so condescending. Ohh, I guess that made him/her mad because they started to give me the history of the wolf and domesticated dogs and said "we" are more experienced and "we" are just trying to give you advice. I just wanted top dwelling stocking ideas not a critic of my oto stock. All I gotta say is that app is now uninstalled! Sorry had to vent

Actually most are wild caught. They are quite hard to breed.

I only have 2 in my 75g and they are happy as can be with fish x20 their size. I had more but they disappeared (assuming didn't last from being wild caught)

Well, I guess that I can insert my foot in my mouth now. But seriously, because they are wild caught wild caught then it doesn't necessarily mean they will act the same in a tank. That's maybe what got my goat too. Also the person couldn't get off the fact that I simply do not want more oto's. Maybe my oto's are happy to finally have some privacy, lol.

LOL then mine must be living the dream. I seriously have one that looks so fat you would think its prego. But it's highly unlikely.

Yours will be fine. I had a similar experience on another forum as well. They were not so demanding though.

It only takes one rant from an individual to turn someone off. It can happen anywhere. But happy you like us better! Welcome home

Now I feel guilty for doing this in other threads... although generally it's only with fish that actually really need to be kept in groups. I've never considered Ottos to need more than 3, nor heard anyone who suggested more as a minimum.

Im sorry you had to deal with a twit over on the darkside. Lol. Your otos are fine as they are. Ive had my share of sphincters try and tell me there way is the only one too. I mean come on, how many people have a tank big enough to accomodate a friggin shoal. Glad you found AA, we're glad to help when we can, but we have some dingbats here too. Myself included. 😉 just kidding.... Angels have always done well with rams in a 30 for me. A pair of each could work just fine. Just keep an eye out for possible breeding aggression. But in my 30 the pair of angels stay mid to up, the rams stay mid to down. This also may not work for everyone, but is goin good for a yr plus in one of mine.

Thanks! I can take criticism like a boss. But this had happened with the same guy to other people consistently and my Scottish roots said, "hell no!" Changing subject, I kinda want angel's but my Keyhole is very nice, but he's grown up with all the stock I currently have and I don't know how he will react. Also angel's are obviously cichlids too.
