Spider bites

Anyone ever get unlucky enough to get bit by a garden type spider? I unfortunately did this weekend. Found out I am allergic. Two bites on the inside of my knee, my leg swelled from hip to foot, itched like crazy, burns and got a huge white patch along my leg. Much antihistamine and peroxide and a few home remedies and the swelling is down enough that I can bend my leg and tolerate the pain of walking on it now. Still itches like crazy. All I can say is thank goodness there are no poisionous spiders here! Beware of spider bites everyone.

I've been bitten by a brown recluse and my wife (spider woman) has been bitten by a brown recluse and a black widow, she's pretty unlucky with the spiders.

OMG!! I am so glad and lucky we don't have those here! I can't imagine how awful it was for both of you. Those bites can be serious.

My brother had a bad encounter with a spider a few years ago. He ended up having surgery because of it. And everyone wonders why I freak at the site of those little things.

Anne, since you had such a strong reaction, perhaps you should ask your doctor for an epi-pen in case your next reaction is more severe. Better safe than sorry.

OMG!! get well soon Zagz. I'm terribly sorry to hear you were bitten. How did it get on your leg?? Did you see what it looked like??? Hope it was not a poisonous one. Might have just been a wolfspider bite. Those will swell burn anditch like crazy too. Nasty Buggers!!! Heal up quick Zagz, and get a doctors opinion and examination on that bite just in case like QTOFFER says.

Yuck! Reminds me of when my mom got bit by a recluse on her back. She didn't notice it for a while and it made nasty sores on her back that took a while to heal.

Bllllllech!

yeah, brown recluse are about as bad as you can get in north america. Black widows get a bad rap, but allergies aside, they are only serious to babies and elderly with poor health. Usually its just a couple days worth of fever.

Brown recluse bites...yeesh...gangreen, open sores, tissue damage...not cool. the post bite infection is what gets ya.

Austraila...has the funnel spider...very deadly bite.

and of course, the clock spider is world wide
