Not to mention that some acrylic tanks I have seen seem to scratch easily. I couldn't imagine what that tank will look like in a few years

Close second would be nearly every shark tank they build... So often they're stuffing black tips, nurse sharks, AND carpet sharks into systems that aren't even adequate for ONE of them when full grown. Unless they have a service where once the sharks outgrow the tanks they find new homes for them and get new babies, I don't see how things work out...

i agree with the skateboard tank (cant remember what company it was for) but i remember a larger oval shaped install they did that the wife had to climb into to place corals (fake at that) i specifically remember them stating that there was already a bigger tank that was queued to be the future home for the sharks when they get too big

Well, they kind of showed how they handled that for the skateboard tank... Flash cooled the extra thick acrylic for more scratch resistance and had the skaters use the softer wheels. I still think the tank would end up scratched over time, but probably long after the fish stressed themselves to death :p

I remember that too, but I have to wonder where they're putting all these sharks when they get full grown... Unless they have public aquariums or massive restaurant/casino tanks that they're supplying them to, there are VERY few home aquariums that are going to be big enough for half the shark species they're fond of using... I think I remember them even putting a hammerhead in one of the tanks :blink:
 
didnt you know? ATM created their own dwarf-hammerhead breed just for sticking in rediculously small tanks lol. yeah idk just seems like its a bad bad idea
 
I saw one tank on there that was half sharks and the other half alligators. The gators were on loan so maybe they do the same with sharks
 
i literally just watched that episode the other day. the point when the client said " no we want them both" i would of looked at him and said, "youre an idiot" and walked out
 
Yeah i was actually surprised that Paul and Jimmy off the show gator boys actually went along with it
 
...Gators and sharks in the same tank??? I've only been watching the episodes on Netflix, they don't have that one yet... Even beyond the aggression issues of the two sides, aren't gators freshwater??? I thought only Crocs could handle saltwater long term...
 
The tank was divided but it was still a terrible setup. The drum set tank they made really made me mad.
 
Oh god... A drum set??? Did someone forget why public aquariums have signs that say "Don't tap on the glass"?
 
There were 3 five gallon tanks again with goldfish. I believe they said" because these are only freshwater tanks with goldfish, we won't need filters"

that's what they said. All they put was bubblers in them. And they're goldfish.
 
The show is mostly scripted, although I definitely agree they're misinforming people. But keep in mind, it's meant for entertainment. Besides, if the tanks they make are so bad, why are they so successful? Not to mention, that skateboard ramp tank I think was a one time use. I could be wrong, but they also seem to know what they're doing.

I was watching that to with my boyfriend, my first thought was like on they will put a betta in it. Then I heard them say 12 goldfish and my jaw dropped ><. They do this a lot. They overstock their tanks and I really think or hope that it is just for the show. In which case it makes it worse because people who don't know better, watch the show and take advice from what they saw. But hopefully for the health of the fish, they do remove them after they are done filming. To be honest, I think Tracy Morgan is pretty knowledgeable about his fish and hopefully if they don't take them out, he will. He is passionate about his fish.

I have to admit though, I had aquariums almost my whole childhood and I stopped doing them in my teenage years. My grandfather use to have close to 6 planted tanks and he did everything the old fashion way. After he passed, I stop doing it. Watching that show really brought my passion back and made me realize just how much I missed my fish. Thanks to this forum also, I have taken another step into the area of planted tanks which is something I never did prior to coming here for information. So I am thankful to both.
 
I think it is funny how he says tv is to entertain. Which I understand that bbbuuuttt I rather be educated in a fun way then seeing information that most hobbyist will cringe at.
