Thought it would be a great idea if there was a thread where we could post good advice. Whether It saves you time, money or makes your fish healthier or happier I want to hear it!

I'll start

To use a clip on light from the hardware store for my planted tank, only cost ten bucks for light AND bulb as opposed to 100+ for actual aquarium lights.

Bigger is better! I wanted to rush into getting a tank and I would have had a 90L tank, but because I waited, I now have a tank over twice the size :)

Don't just go an buy plants and fish that look nice - research, buy later!

Bigger schools are better!

Ooops, that was 3 :D

Good things happen to those who wait. This is my moms advice for EVERYTHING. I find this especially helpful with fish keeping. For those staring off, do your homework, learn all you can. It may seem like it's taking forever, but the end result will be worth your time and money.
