I was driving through Hollywood when I was in California when I see a sign for a store called "Gay-mart". On the bottom of the sign it said parking in rear. I almost crashed when I drove by becuase I was laughing so hard.

Yeah. Click here for the pic. What's the 'halfway' part supposed to mean anyways?

There's a small fishing store in North East Idaho (where I grew up) located on a reservoir (Palisades). The name of the store? "The Dam Store". Growing up, my brothers and I used to LOVE our yearly camping trips in the surrounding area and telling our parents that "we're going to the dam store".... and not getting in trouble for saying it.

Deli:

"You see, a portly truck driver named Richard "Dick" Nelson was one of the original owners. He was a big guy, those who know him say. Located at the 47-Mile Marker of the Osage arm of the Lake, the business is more or less halfway between the Truman Dam near Warsaw and the Bagnell Dam at Lake Ozark."

More than just inuendo, it would appear there is some truthful basis to the name.
