I was sitting in my apartment watching my 13 various species of fish eat bloodworms and I began a thought. These fish interact with each other as well as with myself. I began thinking they must feel. Even simple instinctual behavior such as mating, eating or swimming like crazy away from a net or even just coming to swim up and say hello. They must feel something even if it is simple. I have learned many things in my life but one of the most fundamental and prolific things I have learned is that we must respect our planet and living things. This idea and respect not only did I learn as a child but also as an adult on this forum site. As I was thinking about my fish and the global problems that our species and the species within our ecosystem face as a whole- I began to cry. There are many things we can do everyday to improve the survival of all. Whether it be recycling, the proper disposal of medications and chemicals, avoiding littering, catch and release or joining an organization. We all can do our part to increase the longevity of our own man kind and the nature around us. I here share my feelings and would out of full respect like to read your feelings and suggestions on this topic. *Please be respectful of others and respect to ideas.

i am very impressed with your insight. we recycle, reuse alot and try to not use cars or waste electricity in our household, but it takes a large amount of people to join together and make somethingas simple as switching off lights into a worldwide battle against the disasters we are creating. we can reuse shopping bags, skip the car and go on bikes, turn off the tv when its not watched, have a shower instead of a bath - its all a big contribution if enough people help out.
fish interact like humans but are pure - in a way that we havnt been for decades or longer. they live in a non-creating manor, when they have no desire to produce technicalities to adjust the environment for the better, so their ecosystem os unaffected by their being. fish are imo a way to look back at what nature provided us - how tainted we are incomparison and how truly beautiful we could be, how happy.
this is why i own a fish tank - i feel i am a controller of nature, i have an impact on their lives and i want to make them happy. but what about our own lives? do we truly understand the control we have over nature where we are ruining its balance, how it is devastating core essentials to survival. why do we not improve the delicate sytem? i say it is time to make a stand.

i also believe places like casinos and large electric-based entertainment buildings should be reduced largely in population, to save electric and lower the carbon footprint we are stamping into the earth. this is my input. thanks.
