I know there is a lot of arguing going on about wal-mart and whether or not they should be selling fish. I thought I would post some info for people who wanna take some action
http://www.purpleocean.org http://www.bbb.org http://www.aquariumcouncil.org All these sites link to Non-Proft organizations

Update, I posted the MAC link so we can work towards wal-mart stores NEVER selling saltwater fish or reef supplies such as corals, inverts, etc!!!

Do they sell [acronym:074667eaaa="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:074667eaaa] fish or inverts? I've never even seen anything for [acronym:074667eaaa="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:074667eaaa] at any WalMart I've been to.

They should be shut down if they do sell sw fish.
I keep getting an image of a little girl going up and saying can i have that fishy ?(looking at a clownfish) and the guy gets it for her thinking it fw or something, she gets home puts it in a tank it dies, then she goes back uses the policy they have(90 days holy schmoly!) Gets another one and it dies and this goes on and on. THe walmart by me it stupid,i asked for a silver dollar, they got me it and marked it as an algae eater.... then another time i asked for a chorydora, they gave me a molly........

it depends on the WalMart and what regional vendor supplies their fish. in the midwest, they tend to not carry any [acronym:2de6e18697="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:2de6e18697], but I'm sure on the east/west coasts, and along the gulf of mexico, they carry at least some [acronym:2de6e18697="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:2de6e18697] fish/inverts.

Im with malkore - likely west coast wal marts sell saltwater stuff. I dont know that for sure, when I was in [acronym:7db8cc7dc1="Calcium"]CA[/acronym:7db8cc7dc1] I didnt go to wal mart though my friend that keeps reef tanks out there will tell me. Since I dont live there and know the conditions directly I dont feel that I should report anything to the MAC.

I lived on the gulf cost of TX (padre island to be exact) and had 3 walmarts near me, and none sold [acronym:b297783217="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:b297783217] items
the walmart by me now doesn't sell even [acronym:b297783217="Freshwater"]FW[/acronym:b297783217] fish. but i suppose that's because there is a petsmart, fish store, and meijer that sells fish all in the same shopping center.

Live in Florida, no [acronym:4db2dbd458="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:4db2dbd458] fish at any of the Wal-Marts or Super Wal-Marts I've ever been to. Buttloads of Bettas, tho. Poor things, Put down at the level [acronym:4db2dbd458="Fish only"]fo[/acronym:4db2dbd458] children to see and go "OH MOMMIES BUY ME PRETTY FISHES! ", and inevitably you get the demon child who thinks its fun to put 5 bettas in the same cup, and they fight eachothers for hours until they die or someone seperates them [ usually a sympathetic customer, Wal-mart employees never do more then they absolutely have to ]

Well good, it sounds like Walmart doesn't sell [acronym:5bb1367593="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:5bb1367593] livestock at all anymore. Now if we can just get them out of the fish hobby altogether, the [acronym:5bb1367593="Local Fish Store"]LFS[/acronym:5bb1367593]'s can reclaim the market and get healthier fish to us.
