No other official pets but we pseudo have tropical lizards running through the area.
No really ... in the village of Gibson in Valley Stream there are lizards that run all over the block! They live under my back deck, front steps, seen them on the neighbors property on either side etc.

They've been here for years ... my wife thinks years ago a truck carrying lizards to an LFS rolled and they all got loose. Those that survived the winter took up refuge in warm basements etc. Could never get a straight answer .. could've been someone had them as pets but let them go?

I've actually been trying to find out for a few years. Look like ones I've seen in Puerto Rico. Mostly green in color, with some light yellow I think .. at most 4 - 5 inches w/ the tail. They are fast! Scurry around like crazy. Just yesterday I was backwashing the pool filter and one runs right by and under the deck.

It's amazing they've been able to adapt and survive up here. We've had several below or near zero degree winter nights in the last 5-6 years and they've managed to survive that. I'd love to get pictures or a video, but unless I have my Iphone ready at a moments notice, it would be nearly impossible.

Yep ... that's about the closest that I came up with. Not sure but a good possibility. Never found a dead one I could examine and I'm not about to capture one ... figure let them be.
