Christmas Eve, we are going to Daniel's father's house to celebrate Christmas with his family.

Christmas Day, we are traveling to my Aunt's house to celebrate Chanukah

What are your plans?

If things go according to plan, my wife's clan will visit my sister-in-law on Christmas Eve and then have my family over on Christmas Day. Of course, "to plan" refers to orders issued by she who must be obeyed.

We will be at my sister in laws for Christmas Eve and then we will be driving down to my mothers on Christmas Day. Since my company closes for the week between Christmas and New Years we will spend the week with my Mom and New Years Eve in Atlantic City.

December 16th - *Hopefully* going to see Appalachian State University play for the AA Football National Championship!!!!! But that is in Chatanooga and I am supposed to leave from Charlotte, NC at 9:30am the following day. Bah!

December 17th - leaving with my mom and her husband and my little sister to see my dad. They will be staying with him for one week, and I'll be there for two. We'll celebrate Christmas the first week there with everyone. Then I am returning Dec. 31st and have not thought of my new year's plans. I may be picked up by a friend for a road trip to Atlanta, but that depends on when I am getting back.

Friday before Christmas we are spending the evening with my dads side of the family. Not to sound like the Grinch but it's something that needs to end. We are all in our 20's and 30's and it's kind of an inconvience to get everyone together on the same day since we all have our own families.

Christmas Eve we spend at my parents house. That's always a fun night. We all sit in the living room and eat shrimp, meatballs, vegs, chips/cheese, and bread/dip. Then we start opening presents and toss the wrapping paper in the fireplace to fuel the fire.

Christmas Day we are going to be doing renovations on the apt then meet up at the local bar with my parents. Some traditions you can't stop. And at some point during the next month or so we will be getting together with James' family. I'm actually really looking forward to Christmas this year. It's always a suprise to see who gets the "bow". (About 6 years ago my mother put this big ugly yellow bow on my gift. She made it and it was pretty until it got smushed by the vaccum during pre-Christmas cleaning. So I kept the bow and put it on my sister-in-laws gift the following year. Then she put it on my brothers gift, and so on and so forth. So now every year someone gets the yellow bow but noone knows whos gift it is on because the giver does not label the present. pretty sneaky The receiver has to keep the bow and put it on someone else's gift the next year. It's kind of a funny tradition.)

Christmas eve, husband son and myself with gift opening, Christmas day my fathers for Christmas brunch, Christmas dinner at the inlaws, Boxing day dinner with my mother. I can't eat turkey any other time of the year after eating it 4 times in 3 days [acronym:0cc34a104a="Laughing out loud"]LOL[/acronym:0cc34a104a].

This sunday we are going to my uncle's house to say goodbye. (Found out he has an inoperable brain tumor and he only has a few months to live. ) Christmas eve we are going to my mothers, and christmas night we are going to my wife's grandmothers.

Taking a red-eye flight to Long Island on the 22, hopefully getting some sleep the 23. Christmas Eve dinner will be spent at an aunt's house, and with any luck my sister will fly in safely from Phoenix that day. Christmas may be hectic, I'm not sure, the morning with Trevor, mom and sisters, afternoon may bring stepfather and stepsisters. I go shopping the 26, Trevor flies home the 27 and then I knit my way to the new year. New Year's Day is my stepfather's birthday, that's why I'll be on LI so long and I finally go home the third. If any New Yorker is up for a trip to Atlantis Marine World, let me know.


*edit, gouramiguy, I share your sadness, my stepfather has bone cancer throughout his body and, like you, I am trying to make every moment count.

Beginning Wed of next week I start baking. I am making cookie baskets for some of my family for gifts this year. That will have 3 types of cookies and my home made caramels. Christmas eve will be dinner at my house (which will require two pies) and Christmas dinner at my inlaws (another pie). Anybody have an oven I can borrow?
