What's the deal with a axolotl?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an interest in aquariums or fish keeping!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I don't own one but I do know that they must have cool water. No higher than 75F I believe. Preferably cooler. Good water quality, low current, and no gravel. They will ingest it (not good). Larger stones and possibly sand might be okay.

They are opportunistic predators NOT a community tank creature. They will eat each other if they feel like it/have the opportunity. (Kinda like a frog/toad) Although they do seem able to live together, best to have the same size tankmates. I have a friend who keeps them.

They need nice clean water. Come in so many pretty colors, though some colors are more rare.
